The Challenge:
Edinburgh High School's gymnasium was used to host a variety of sporting events, social gatherings, musicals and guest speakers. The acoustics in the room were poor, the quality of the sound was blurred by unwelcome levels of background noise. The school contacted NetWell Noise Control seeking help in conditioning their gymnasium for sound control. Our goal was to lower the decibel levels in the room by controlling the length of time carried by unwanted sound reflections.

The Result:
Upon completion of the installation of the rows and columns of VET Baffles, the sound reflections in the room were dropped to under 2.0 seconds. The soundproofing treatment cleaned out the background noise by capturing the unwanted sound reverberation, and delivering great quality sound to the room. From sporting events to public speaking, musicals to social gatherings, the decibel levels were back under control while clear crisp sound now radiates throughout the facility.

The Treatment:
As with most gymnasiums, this room was an oversized shoe-box shaped facility. Hard reflective walls, a basketball court floor, and a metal roof deck. With pull out bleachers that limited available wall space, the decision was made to apply a ceiling treatment for sound control. A set of acoustic VET Baffles were delivered to the facility for vertical suspension between the exposed joists.
