There are a multitude of paths that your noise is taking to enter your home. Treating one wall or a window will ignore chimneys, exhaust fans, outlet plates, basements, attics, windows in other rooms, pipes, doors, and a host of other avenues that noise will travel. Line your common surfaces with this mass loaded vinyl, anchor a set of firring strips horizontally up your wall, and apply a new layer of drywall. This technique can trigger a significant drop in noise bleeding straight through your common wall.

»RSIC Clips

This is a mechanical clip system that can be installed to support a set of metal hat channels direct to your finished or unfinished wall surface. This system helps float a new layer of drywall out and away from your structure to combat vibrations from bleeding noise through.
