Soundproofing a Pool Pump

Noise Control Challenge:

Pool pumps help circulate water through the swimming pool and filter out unwanted matter.   The pump itself can be loud and produce unwelcome noise.   Our goal is to protect yourself and your unhappy neighbors from a loud pool pump.

Soundproofing Treatment:

For sound proofing a pool pump, build a simple frame around the pump.   The frame can be made of 2x4s, unistrut, tubular steel, angle iron, chain link fence or any other support material.   Then feed us the dimensions of your frame, and we will cut a set of outdoor noise control blankets to match the dimensions of your frame.   The blankets will help isolate the noisy pool pump area and protect others from the pool pump noise.

Acoustic Result:

You cannot build a full enclosure around your pool pump.  You must let it breathe.   The blankets will typically trigger a 10-12 dB drop.   This result for soundproofing a pool pump is simulated in our Sound Chamber.   Results will decay depending on how partial your enclosure is, but you can reasonably expect to trigger a 70-80% drop in the noise you are currently experiencing for a more quiet pool pump.
